Introduction

**C**limate change is real. There is no doubt about that fact. It’s visible all around us;

- unusual weather patterns,
- extreme weather,
- earth quakes,
- forest fires,
- floods, the list goes on.

There are many factors that can affect our weather, from solar flares to volcanoes erupting causing massive ash clouds, and of course, God. These factors can’t be controlled by us humans, but it doesn’t mean we can’t still be responsible stewards of the earth we live on. We can do things such as investing in new technologies that can convert waste to energy, or simply finding personal ways to reduce waste and do things more efficiently.

There is also a fear that if we don’t do anything, then the world as we know it will come to an end. This obviously raises a lot of concerns, and so it should. Indeed, the world is going to end, and it does seem to be closer than ever before.

Chapter 1

The Cause

People on a whole, need something to believe in. Usually it is one of the many religions of the world, but often it is some worthwhile cause or worldly treasure that is sought out.

> - Saving the animals.
> - Saving the planet (Climate Emergency)
> - Stop using fossil fuels
> - Pursuit of extreme wealth

Children are ingrained with the need to belong, to belong to a family. Unfortunately not all children have good homes, and this affects how they grow up and we can see this in their behaviours as they become adults. As we grow up, this need to belong, to be a part of something, never diminishes - it’s such a basic instinct that we can never get away from it. God created us, and we belong to God.

Without God in our lives, there is a void that needs to be filled. People live in a folly where they believe that they themselves, can fill such void with some worldly cause. But it will never be enough, that need or desire will never be satisfied. No matter the amount of wealth, or the number of protests you attend, or plastic bottles you clean up, you will keep looking for more.

Let’s take a look at Romans 8.

Romans 8:1-5

Romans 8:6-11

In Romans 8, we can see that without God in our lives, we then focus on the things of this world. But, when we have faith in Jesus Christ and have His Spirit within us, we live of the Spirit instead of this world. This means that Jesus fills that void in our lives.

Let’s go through an example. We have a game show with 2 contestants, Contestant A and Contestant B and they have an opportunity to win some money by playing any of 5 games within a time limit. Each contestant can play any number of the 5 games, and money earned in each game will be transferred to their final total when a save point is reached. If a contestant changes to a different game, only the money up to the last save point is kept.

Contestant A looks at the 5 games and finds he is somewhat familar with 3 of the games but of those 3, only confident with one of them that he could make lots of money. So Contestant A starts with his first game. After a while, he's made some good money to start, but it's been a while since the last save point. Contestant A is getting tired of the game but when he looks at the other two familar games, or worse the two games he doesn't know at all, he doesn't want to take the risk and lose his current round of money. He keeps going on the first game though it's not so much fun anymore. Finally the time is up and he has lots of money. He's glad the game is done.

Contestant B's turn. He looks at the 5 games and he is only familiar with 2 of the games. Before the games begin, Contestant B is told two things that Contestant A didn't know about. One, if he needs help with any of the games, or strategies, a mentor is available, and two, the number of games he tries will act as a multiplier to his final amount of money.

Contestant B starts with the first game, and after the first save point realizes that he isn't so good at it, and moves on to the second game. The second game is fairly easy and Contestant B coasts along making some good money. After a while he wants to learn a new game so he goes on to the third game. This game is much harder, but with some instructions from the mentor, he discovers that with the difficulty comes great rewards and he makes even more money. The time runs out and all of Contestant B's winnings is multiplied by 3 since he had played 3 different games.

Contestant A didn't have such as easy time of it, but he wished someone would have given him the same advice as Contestant B. Not that Contestant B had it completely easy, but he had help along the way - and he had a hope for such a large reward at the end.

In the same way - God gives us a hope of eternal life and heavenly rewards. And He guides our steps, so no matter the decisions we make - He will help us along the way.

> Proverbs 16:9 states: A man's heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.

> Psalms 37: 23-24 states: The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand.

I recommend reading the entire [Psalms 37](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2037&version=NKJV).

How does this work, that our lives will be so much different if we believe and have faith in Jesus?

Let’s take a look at Matthew chapter 6.

Matthew 6: 25:30

Matthew 6:31-34

So, if we are trusting in God, if we are seeking first the kingdom of God, in everything that we do, God will provide all things that we need. And we don’t need to worry how is it all going to work out in our lives (this is a big burden that is removed when you trust in God), or in the world (such as the climate). This doesn’t mean that we can sit around doing nothing, expecting God to provide everything that you desire. Just as we have to be good stewards of the earth, we have to be good stewards of our lives that God has given us.

This also doesn’t mean that bad things aren’t going to happen in our lives. If everything was perfect - every moment in life was pure joy, it would become tiring, or worse, you come to believe that the success is something that you have brought along yourself. Without sadness there is no joy.

> Psalm 31:5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favour is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

As we live day to day, we go through our personal and family struggles, without God in our lives, this can become a great burden to bear. But it’s not a burden we bear alone.

> Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

When we live our lives center focused on God, believing and seeking Him, and trusting Him in everything that you do, you will find a peace and joy in life that you can't find anywhere else. Even in times of trouble, there is a hope that exceeds sorrows. The void will be filled, and we see this in Romans 5.

Romans 5:1-5

Now, people will start to think, can I still be a Christian, and follow the persuits of my dreams, take on worldly causes? I can manage both!

***WRONG***

In Matthew chapter 6 we find this:
> 19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

> 22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.

> 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!"

> 24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."

There is only one true cause, and that is to be a believer in Christ, that He rose from the dead, to pay for the sins of the entire world, past present and future. And to share this good news with as many people as possible before the end comes, because time is short!

Chapter 2

The End Times

Matthew 24:3-8

Matthew 24:32-33

Matthew 24:21-22, 29-31

We can see the prophesy of the end times in Matthew 24. Like the leaves blooming on a tree as a sign of spring and coming summer, so are the events occuring on earth.

- Wars and rumors of wars
- Forest fires
- Heat waves
- Flooding
- Earthquakes

These signs all point towards the final outcome. But when will the end come?
> Matthew 24:36-39: "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be."

To understand the end, we will have to look into the book of Revelation to expand on what John was privileged to witness as yet to come:

> Revelation 1:1-3: The Revlation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants-things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.

Revelation 5:1-5

Revelation 6 - First Seal

Revelation 6 - Second Seal

Revelation 6 - Third Seal

Revelation 6 - Fourth Seal

Revelation 6 - Fifth Seal

Revelation 6 - Sixth Seal -1

Revelation 6 - Sixth Seal -2

We don’t know, we aren’t given any specific timing in the Bible, when the Seals are being opened, but if you look at the world today and everything going on - we can find a place where it fits.

The first and second Seals: conquering and conflict on earth could be happening now. Especially when we see the current conflicts with Ukraine and Israel. There is movement on the world stage with China, Asia overall, and Europe, to re-shape and gain control of sovereign nations. It’s only going to get worse.

The pandemic of 2019 is a good example - and we see the World Health Organization stepping in with a new treaty (not yet accepted, but still in the works) that would give them global control on pandemic declarations and how each country responds - basically giving up control of sovereign health care to a world organization. More information can be found at this link:

[WHO - Pandemic Treaty](https://leslynlewismp.ca/2024/01/17/the-who-pandemic-treaty/)

But we can say we haven’t seen the sixth Seal yet, where the sun and moon change in appearance. There is much much more, but we know that this is expected to come - let us look at Revelation 13 to learn more about the world affairs.

Revelation 13: 1, 3-4, 6-8

Eventually we will have a one world government and a one world currency. There are many pointers or indications in the world today that the end of the world is near. At some point the world is going to be in such turmoil, that someone taking charge and claiming to unite the world in peace will seem such a welcome change and be widely expected. Be wary and watch for this - it will sway a lot of people, even many believers. How quickly were we willing to give up our freedoms when Covid came through - and that was a small scale experiment to what we will see next.

There is a lot more in the book of Revelation, but that will be my next book. The question on everyone’s mind is: What can we do? What can I do to help make a difference in the world?

Chapter 3

The Way of the World

Remember we talked about the void that people need to fill in their lives? The search for a cause that they can get behind and try to bring change to society as a whole?

Climate Change has been around for a long time. I grew up with the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and then it became Global Warming. Though I remember when I took a weather course as part of my degree at Mount Royal that the earth rotates through periods of warming and cooling.

If you’ve noticed, almost every natural disaster is now accredited due to climate change. Polar ice caps are melting, which changes the ocean water temperatures, which affects the weather systems, which affect us and our land. Every natural disaster is being used as a call to activism, to push people to join the cause of fighting climate change.

When we think “climate change” there is a common name that pops up - Greta Thunberg. One of her favourite calls to action is to reduce the amount of fossil fuels - to the point of not using them at all. They try to shut pipelines down, and there is a massive push to switch to the EV automobile instead of gasoline powered. The switch to wind power. Not to mention the carbon tax.

Let’s look at fossil fuels first. What these activists tend to forget, or overlook, is that the quality of life we live is because of such fossil fuels. Single-use plastics were created to increase hygiene, especially in hospitals and the food industry. But most of all, almost everything we have, clothes, furniture, technology, all our creature comforts, are based from oil production. Check out this link:
[Made from petroleum](https://www.ranken-energy.com/index.php/products-made-from-petroleum/)

So, if you really want to fight against oil and fossil fuels - take the lead, please. Go find a cave somewhere and live off the land. Prove that your life, and everyone with you is much better off. Stop being a hypocrite complaining about fossil fuels while everything you own and use is made from them.

When we look at the Electric vehicles and the wind generators. I don’t think people realize the raw resources that go into building a wind tower, or the batteries used in the EV’s. The processes are probably more damaging than drilling for oil, yet I never hear one complaint about the environmental cost of these “green” solutions.

Which begs the question - are there larger motivations behind these agendas? When the Covid lockdowns occurred, it was a big social control experiment. The company I was working for at the time would fire anyone who did not get their Covid vaccines. People reporting on each other for spending time in a group. Travel restrictions based on vaccination status.

Here is a good link on social controls in China as a good example:
[Social Credits](https://joinhorizons.com/china-social-credit-system-explained/#:~:text=The%20China%20social%20credit%20system%20rates%20individuals%20based%20on%20the,grade%20(usually%20from%20A%2DD).)

Don’t think we are that far off. The push to shut down fossil fuels means the provinces and states that have oil to sell, won’t be able to, and reliance becomes on funding from the federal government (look up Universal Income when you get a chance). If provinces/states, corporations, and individuals have to rely on government handouts just to live, then the government get’s to decide who is worthy of the handouts.

EV’s make it much easier to eventually “control” people. They have much more limited range based on one charge, and charging is required more frequently, and doesn’t work well in cold winter conditions. Imagine that you can only charge your EV if you support the government of the day, or pay your taxes on time. If you don’t - you lose the ability to use your own car.

California ran into another interesting issue. With everyone switching from gas vehicles to EV’s, the tax they collect for their highway/road maintenance has gone way down. They’ve had to implement a new method of taxing based on usage of the roads to recapture their maintenance funds:
[California](https://caroadcharge.com/about)

Lastly, climate activists are fighting for something that they have no control over. Remember we read the prophecy in the Bible that natural disasters are going to increase as we near the end. Do people honestly think that they themselves, have the power of God, to affect the climate of earth by some piddly actions that they take?

Satan knows how the world is going to come to an end, so he is selling a lie to people that if they just work hard enough, invest in enough new technologies, then the end of the world that is coming can be prevented. Instead, he is trying to destroy our economies and our lives - paving the way for the one world government to step in and take over.

Now let’s take a look at the real solution!

Revelation 8:1-6

Chapter 4

The Way of Truth

There is a decision to make. As we mentioned earlier in this book, you can choose to live of this world, or live of the Spirit of God.

> Matthew 7:13-14 - “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

There is a fork in the road, a split in the path; which way will you go? One path is wide and easy, and well travelled. Often our instinct is to follow the crowd - if people are going that way, that must be the right way to go. But if you know that the end of that path leads to destruction, to eternal damnation, wouldn’t you choose the other path? Wouldn’t you try to warn people not to go down the easy wide path?

Yes, narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to eternal life - it’s not going to be easy - Christians are persecuted around the world. In North America we have it pretty good, but the time is coming when the church will be heavily persecuted.

In Matthew 5, Jesus was teaching:
> 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

> 11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.”

> 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

What else do we have to do:
> 38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’

> 39 But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

> 40 If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also.

> 41 And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

> 42 Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.

Even harder:
> 43 “You have heard that is was said, ‘You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’

> 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

> 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

This is contrary to the world behaviour of _"me first"_, protect my interests first above everyone else, sacrifice others for my own gain. That is not what we are supposed to do. Even when it is not an easy path to follow.

But when you think that God’s Son, Jesus, came to earth to take on all of our sins, and died on the cross for each and every one of us, that we may believe on Him and have everlasting life, that is the ultimate sacrifice. It makes my own suffering feel quite inconsequential and bearable. Yet there is hope and strength through all the tough times.

Psalms 23 is quite familiar to most, but it sums all of this up quite nicely:

> 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

> 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

> 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.

> 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

> 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.

> 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.

Matthew 6:1-4

Matthew 6:9-15

How do we make this decision? How do we choose to go down this narrow path?

Let’s look at Romans 10:

> 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):

> 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

> 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

> 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.

> 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.

> 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

There is a simple prayer, called the “Sinner’s Prayer” - you can look it up on the internet - though it is a good prayer to pray to accept Jesus into your life - it is often misused as the only thing you need to do to be saved.

It’s a stepping stone on your new journey down the narrow path to eternal life. If you accept Jesus into your life and believe in Him, your life will drastically change as your focus shifts away from the things of this world. Priorities will change and you will find a new purpose in your life!

The Next Steps

In this book I have touched on and highlighted many different scriptures from the Bible (NKJV) though it’s a small fraction of the Word of God. The world is going to come to an end, and the climate is changing - all part of God’s master plan.

You can ignore everything I’ve brought to light, continue down the easy path and try to live your own life, fill your own voids - but it will never be enough.

If you have made the right choice and have accepted Jesus, first, welcome to the church - fellow son or daughter of God! - secondly there is a lot more to explore and understand in God’s Word - the Bible.

If you look in John chapter 14 and 15, Jesus promises a Helper, the Holy Spirit, that will be with us, the Spirit of Truth, the Comforter, the Teacher. As you grow in your faith, seeking God, seeking in God’s Word, God will show you things and provide the answers you are looking for. Start with the New Testament.

If you have any questions or comments - I have created a site for feedback and I welcome it. I’d love to hear your own stories and connect with you.
